Planning the Project

Installing a biomass system, no matter what the size, is a much more involved process than many alternative type of heating system, particularly those using non-renewable fuels. Creating fuel storage on site, working with different technologies, the large plant sizes for biomass compared to gas and the more involved commissioning all meant that installing a biomass system takes longer than may be expected and requires careful planning to ensure that adequate heating capacity is provided at all times.

The Aldern House project was almost 3 years in the planning from start to finish. This included a lengthy period of gaining capital investment in the project and the relevant approvals required. A summary timeline of the project is provided below.
